[Review] FTISLAND – LOCK UP

FTISLAND is back to blow us all away with their eighth mini-album ‘LOCK UP’. It has been more than two years since their previous comeback, so I’m sure that fans are stoked for this one.

LOCK UP

We start off with the title track ‘Unthinkable’. This track is so good at building up your emotions. Turn on the captions for the full effect. The vocals and the powerful instrumentals really capture the story well of someone who you loved dearly, leaving your life.

Next up is the track ‘Beautiful’. Note, this is not the same track as their 2014 single ‘Beautiful’. This has a happy guitar riff and a positive message. The chorus is super easy to singalong to and will bring a smile to your face.

‘Obvious’ has a bit of a Latin guitar opening, before sliding into a mournful mid-tempo ballad. The break-up track sounds dramatic and has a lovely build-up. It’s a smooth listen.

After that we get ‘Bones’. According to the album description it: “expresses the desire to be honest with the person you fell in love with at first sight.”. It’s a cool pop rock track and sounds like the perfect soundtrack for a roadtrip.

We close off with ‘Set Me Free’. This track is an encouragement to everyone who spends a lot of time alone. Its a comfort and has enough of an impact to leave you smiling. It’s absolutely lovely.

Overall, ‘LOCK UP’ by FTISLAND is a very wholesome mini-album. Go ahead and check it out on Spotify here.
