KINGDOM: Legendary War Episode 8 Recap

It’s a new week in ‘KINGDOM: Legendary War’ and we’re on Episode 8 already. Last week the 3rd round ‘No limit’ with the mixed group performances kicked off and we got to see the performances from the Hip-Hop and the dance units. This week we got the results from the performance units, and MayFly (Stray Kids-BTOB-ATEEZ) won the round.

VOCAL UNITS

It’s One

It’s One (SF9-iKON-The Boyz) was the first group to take the stage.

Before D-Day, the members met at the FNC building to discuss their performance. This group included iKON’s June and Jay, SF9’s Insung and Jaeyoon, and The Boyz’ New and Sangyeon.

They chose ‘Spark’ by Taeyeon from her album ‘Purpose’. From the getgo this meeting was vocal power, their harmonization during their practices were incredible and it was just a total show off of vocal skills (and we are living for it). In their meetings we also got to see very cute interactions, and a lot of fanboying over Jay.

The performance started with a stunning acapella intro and a fantastic instrumentation. With a very cinematic, orchestral opening we started with some goosebumps inducing harmonies. The vocal power of Jaeyoon is incredible and stood out in this performance. This vocal line killed it with incredible vocal plays and flawless harmonizations.

Mayfly

Mayfly (Stray Kids-BTOB-ATEEZ) was next. This unit consists of BTOB’s Eunkwang, Stray Kids’ Seungmin, and ATEEZ’ Jongho. They had their first meeting at Cube Entertainment and chose to perform ‘Love Poem’ by IU from her 2019 album.

In their following meetings Eunkwang really gave some vocal coach vibes and it was beyond adorable. The interactions between them were super cute, Seungmin and Jongho definitely went soft mode.

Their performance started and we listened to an acapella group that we didn’t know we needed. This performance was breathtaking! Seungmin’s vocals were out of this world, he did an amazing job on this stage.

The harmonization in the performance was incredible, and their high notes were smooth and flawless.

Right after this performance we got the winner and Mayfly achieved an all-kill for this round.

NO LIMIT

After this first half of the round ended, the show went straight into the group performances, and iKON was first.

iKON

For this round they chose to perform ‘Pretty Savage’ by their label mates BlackPink with a twist, turning it into ‘Classy Savage’.

The stage started with them watching other YG artists and themselves on the TV screen (spot-on creativity). The change of stage was super cool and their acting was kinda adorable. The stage change opened up to a jungle theme and the members went off with a dance break.

Bobby’s rap was amazing for this stage, and the killing element was the sudden change of beat to introduce BlackPink’s Lisa. It was super dope, especially with the Egypt themed stage for this part which was amazing. Their performance goes back to iKON who had a very cool and fast change of outfits.

Big props to iKON for this performance. It was dynamic, fun and super entertaining, they really put on a full show! Watch it below.

Stray Kids

Next to take the stage was Stray Kids, and for this round they also went for a BlackPink song but this time it was ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’.

Felix’s little intro speaking on top of the rice cooker and with Deadpool references, was kinda unexpected but super cool. Stray Kids really made this stage extra interesting with the mash-up of ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ and ‘God’s Menu’.

The EDM mix with a touch of rock was smooth and the electric guitar riff was the cherry on top. The mixing of these two songs was unexpected but really good.

In the little intro we could see Bang Chan trying to figure out how to match the two songs with the two different BPM. He made it work though! The transition was really smooth and fun to listen to. Bang Chan’s little moment where he reminded us of Mr. Rogers was adorable.

Watch it below.

Next week

Next week’s episode looks very promising, with a little cameo of Miyeon from (G) I-DLE and SF9 covering Taemin’s legendary song ‘MOVE’. That was it for this recap of episode 8 of ‘KINGDOM: Legendary War’. See you next time with a new episode recap.

Here’s the teaser.
