[Review] Touch Your Heart

‘Goblin’ fans finally got their ship sailing in the 2019 drama ‘Touch Your Heart’, and as a former ‘Guardian: The Lonely and Great God’ fan I couldn’t be more thrilled when I saw the two leads finally getting the happy ending we all wanted.

A light rom-com for the heart

Written by Lee Myung-suk and Choi Bo-rim, and directed by Park Joon-hwa, ‘Touch Your Heart’ is a light-hearted rom-com telling the story of an actress who wants to make a comeback in a project by a well-known writer but she has to get field experience to get the role.

Oh Jim-shim (Yoo In-na) is a top star that after a scandal has to keep a low profile for a while, she starts working in the lawyers’ office as a secretary, hoping to get the role she wants. Jim-shim is very innocent and kind hearted, she truly tries her best but sometimes things don’t go the way she wants.

Kwon Jung-rok (Lee Dong-wook) is a lawyer, well known for being ruthless, professional and extremely good at his job. He is rather cold and serious and always keeps distance with everyone, however, things change when Jim-shim becomes his secretary.

Jim-shim has a crush on Jung-rok, and believes he likes her back, however, he doesn’t really know about her crush, and these two characters go through some very funny and absolutely cute moments that had me melting while watching this drama.

The past, the present and the future

When Jung-rok finally realises that Jim-shi likes him, and he finally understands his feelings for her, he ditches his cold-hearted cover and becomes a warm person that supports and protects Jim-shim.

She suffers from PTSD after she was stalked and framed for drug use by a chaebol who pretended to be her fan. Jim-shi understands her feelings, embraces her fears and helps her get through it and protects her when her stalker comes back.

In doing all of these, we get some very interesting criminal cases, trials and stories that these two have to solve and make justice prevail.

When Jim-shi goes back to her field, we also get to see a difference in their relationship, in which trust and support are the main characters.

Final thoughts

Overall, ‘Touch Your Heart’ is a rom-com with the right amount of fluff, it doesn’t go overboard and it offers a good character development, not just for the leads but also the other characters.

It was a very lighthearted drama that focused more on the stories of the characters and their relationships. It is truly enjoyable to watch, a total easy watch.
