[Review] KEY – Gasoline

KEY from SHINee is back with his new full-length album ‘Gasoline’. Let’s take a closer look because the teasers looked absolutely amazing!

Gasoline

We start off with the title track ‘Gasoline‘. This is a Hip-Hop dance track that is a really cool vibe. The lyrics were written by KEY himself together with KENZIE.

The music video is one gigantic SLAY. The styling is stunning and the CGI with the dancers looks incredible.

After that comes ‘Bound’ which is a dark pop track. I really enjoyed the moments with KEY’s low register. It made the dynamics of the higher pitched moments even cooler. This full track is mesmerizing and cool.

‘Villain‘ featuring NCT’s Jeno comes up next. The song speaks about a villain who wants to be the main character. That’s such a vibe. I loved the staccato delivery of the verses.

Next up

‘Burn’ is an emotional pop song. It’s a break-up track. I was very surprised by the groovy chorus with the electric guitar. The bass is really popping off in the backing track.

Next up is ‘Guilty Pleasure’ which is a retro synth track. Literally play this in a club and everyone will vibe to this.

‘G.O.A.T. (Greatest of All Time)’ plays next. It’s a pop ballad with a very synthy instrumentation. I thoroughly enjoyed the very dreamy bridge and the strings in the backing track.

The following track was written solely by KEY himself. ‘I can’t sleep’ is a pop track with a funky guitar in the backing track. The chorus is fun and catchy.

‘Ain’t Gonna Dance’ slows things down a (tiny) bit. This languid pop track has a very cool ambient sound and creates a lovely soundscape. I’m really digging this R&B feel.

The track ‘Another Life’ was played during his ‘2021 Beyond LIVE – KEY: ‘Groks IN THE KEYLAND’.

‘Delight’ brings us disco pop goodness. What a vibe! This is so much fun and I need to drive around in a convertible next to the ocean while blasting this for everyone around.

The closing track is ‘Proud’. This R&B meets Hip-Hop track flows really well and has a lovely beat.

Overall ‘Gasoline’ by KEY is a very cohesive album that undoubtedly will delight fans.
