[Review] KEY – BAD LOVE

SHINee’s KEY is back with his first mini-album ‘BAD LOVE’. Let’s dive right in, because we’ve been waiting on this one for forever.

BAD LOVE

We start off with the title track ‘BAD LOVE’. The track was written by hitmaker KENZIE, so I was expecting a banger. This is such a fun pop track with some dope retro synths in the back. I really enjoyed the chorus and its build-up. KEY’s vocals are no joke.

The bridge is god-like. I loved it.

‘Yellow Tape’ is next. This is a pop-dance track with, according to the album description “a French touch”. I thoroughly enjoyed the techno vibes. It’s been a while since I’ve heard it. This is a club banger. The catchy ‘breathe in, breathe out’ is a addition to the layering. I need to stand right next to one of those giant speakers, so I can feel the bass in my chest. 10/10

After that comes the pre-released ‘Hate That’ featuring the lovely Taeyeon. You can read our feature on that here.

We follow that up with the sexy ‘Helium’. I cackled when the growling came in. This track is completely in English and damn. Put this in your ‘hoe anthem playlist’. KEY’s vocals are super cool.

Next up is ‘Saturday Night’. The track was written by KEY himself, which is awesome. Check out the translated lyrics here. It’s a cool 80 inspired sound with some funky synths and a cool beat.

We close off with ‘Eighteen (End Of My World)’. KEY also wrote the lyrics for this track. In the album description they state that KEY created the lyrics by pretending to write a letter to his 18 year old self. What a wholesome track.

Overall, ‘BAD LOVE’ by KEY is a great mini-album. I have no doubt that this will be listened to for a long time. You can find it on Spotify here.
