Ode To The Artist: KEY

We’re back with a new Ode To The Artist, this time taking a closer look at KEY. Not only is he a member of the super popular SHINee, he’s also a very successful soloist and fashion icon.

Debut

KEY debuted with SHINee in 2008 and has been rocking the stage ever since. He doesn’t only rap, sing and dance. He’s also helped out with the concepts for the group’s music videos and tours. KEY also has multiple songwriting credits in both SHINee and his own solo music.

He has acted in several productions as well and has performed in multiple musicals. If you need to give an example of being the ultimate all-rounder, KEY is definitely it.

Solo

His first solo venture was with the remix of ‘If You’re Over Me’ by Years and Years.

The official debut happened in 2018 with the single ‘Forever Yours’ featuring former SISTAR member Soyou.

The single ‘One of these nights’ featuring Crush was also one of the tracks on his debut album. This is still such a vibe and the falsetto mixed with the guitar is just superb.

In 2019 he released the SM Station ‘Cold’ featuring HANHAE.

Later on that year, he released the album ‘I WANNA BE’. That’s where he released the utter bop that is ‘I wanna be’ featuring Soyeon from (G)I-dle. He chooses some of the best features I swear. Also KEY rocked that mullet in the music video.

Last summer KEY and Taeyeon teamed up for the single ‘I hate that…’. That chorus had me in a literal choke hold.

‘I hate that…’ was a pre-release for his album BAD LOVE’.

I sincerely hope we get to see more from his solo side. He always releases fantastic music with great people and quality sounds. I can’t wait to hear more.

Go ahead and follow him on Insta here. You can check out his music on Spotify here.
