Mini-album review: NOIR – Up the sky: 飛

LUK Factory boy group NOIR just released their fourth mini-album ‘Up the sky: 飛’ with a strong concept charged with electronic music and synth paired with visuals full of dark colors, a mysterious feel and powerful choreographies.

Up the sky: 飛

Intro’ starts this release off, setting the vibe of the album with strong electronic rhythm and synth sounds. This track is a rush for the heart, it builds up and drops into a spiral of sounds that absorbs the listeners and leaves them expectant.

After the final beat drop in ‘Intro’, the title track ‘Lucifer’ starts. This song is full of energy, it incorporates EDM with great vocals and rapping, and for sure will have you jamming while you listen to it. The music video plays a lot with dark colours and lightning, and it is jam packed with aesthetic elements and stunning visuals.

오늘만’ is next mixing things up with a more pop-ballad style, slower tempo and vocals that will get anyone super soft and emotional. The members did an incredible job delivering the feeling in the lyrics. Total legends.

Next track ‘Panic’ starts and this song was owned by the rapline, they left me absolutely shook and I definitely want to watch the performance version of this track. The beat drop towards the end is just perfect for a dance break and had me super excited.

Closing this mini-album ‘Think About Chu’ starts, this pop song has a really chill and cool feeling that I liked. It is kind of groovy and I thought it was the perfect closer for this release.

Overall, ‘Up the sky: 飛’ starts with heavy and strong sound and beats but it evolves into more calming and soothing rhythms, making the listener appreciate both styles and enjoying a bit of everything in one release.
