EP Review: WJSN – Neverland

The girls from WJSN are back with their latest EP ‘Neverland’. I’m stoked, so let’s dive right in.

Neverland

The opener of the EP is also the title track ‘Butterfly’. There’s a music video and the girls all legit look stunning. I’m reminded of the time when I was obsessed with fairies and I was convinced that butterflies were undercover fairies. So you know, all good fun.

I’m legit in love with the song as well. Definitely turn on those captions, because the lyrics are beautiful. ‘Fly like a butterfly, even if I’m not beautiful, I’ll be free’.

‘HOLA’ is next and I literally did not see that intro coming. It’s a bop with a lot of summer vibes. The song itself is quite high pitched, so when the rap line comes in, it immediately captured my attention. The chanting in the bridge is absolutely lovely! Also those belts are sweet!

The third track is ‘Pantomime’. This song is FIRE. It’s groovy and a little sinister and I love it so much. Exy brings the fire. The vocals are god-tier. The chorus is incredible! The samples they used are so cool and it just works so well. 100% my favorite track of the EP.

After that we get ‘Where You Are’. I did get a little musical whiplash, because it’s quite a transition from ‘Pantomime’. This leans more towards the funky side with the synths working hard in the background. The vocals though, *chef’s kiss*.

‘Tra-la’ comes after that. I didn’t really know what to expect from just the title. This feels very tropical and fits with the summer theme of ‘HOLA’. I can already see them frolic on a beach.

The last song on the EP is ‘Our Garden’. It’s a very soft ballad with some jazz influences and a hella good bass. It’s a lovely way to close off the EP.

Overall

‘Neverland’ is a really solid EP by WJSN. The fans will be very happy with all the new bops and I’m going to replay ‘Pantomime’ because WOW.
