Skin Concern Series: Large Pores

The winter is finally coming to an end and spring and warmer temperatures are upon us. With these climatic changes, our skin will start to shift its needs and our skincare routine might have to change a little bit too.

For today’s topic we are bringing back the skin-concern series and talking about how to minimize (or try to) the appearance of pores, who seem to get more and more visible when the sun is out shining.

Starting off it’s important to know that pores are an essential part of our body. They are responsible for keeping our skin nourished with the natural production of oils. Enlarged pores are a cause of overproduction of sebum, genetics, sun damage, dehydrated skin and pore clogging ingredients.

Regardless of your skin type, enlarged pores can be minimized by using the correct skin care routine for you, keeping yourself hydrated (yes! drinking water is key for skincare too), and not overdoing it when retouching make-up.

Now that we got that straight, having a skin routine that suits your skin type is important to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores. If you are unsure of what a skin care routine is, our feature on Korean 10-step routine is the perfect starting point.

For now, let’s check the highest rated products you can include in your skincare routine to minimize the appearance of enlarged pores.

Cleansing

  • Hanskin – Pore Cleansing Oil: Including PHAs and a blend of natural ingredients, this oil cleanser is the perfect first step and a good cleansing routine for the pores. This product is known for helping break down impurities while not being harsh on the skin, hence it is recommended for sensitive skin.
  • Skinfood – Egg White Pore Foam: Perfect for combo or oily skiing, this cleanser has a pore purifying effect that helps unclog pores with its vitamins and amino acids.

Toners

  • Glow Recipe – Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore -Tight Toner: With softer exfoliating properties this toner is the perfect one for people with sensitive skin.
  • Some By Me: AHA-BHA-PHA 30 Days Miracle Toner: This line by Some By Me, is well-known for their decongesting, anti-acne properties and many more.

Serums

  • Cicapair Tiger Grass Serum: with centella asiatica as its key ingredient. This serum will not also provide hydration but also help with the redness with its calming ingredients.
  • Some By Me – AHA-BHA-PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum:  Following the toner, the serum of this one has all the good stuff of the toner but goes deeper into the skin. It has brightening properties, so it also works for uneven skin tones.

Once your skin is set, you can go on and trap all the properties with a good moisturizer, and always remember to add your sunscreen if you are out.

Remember to keep a healthy lifestyle, everything we do affects our skin and body. Stay hydrated and enjoy the season!
