[Review] SUHO – Grey Suit

After 2 years since his last release, EXO’s vocalist and leader SUHO is back with his highly anticipated second mini album.

Grey Suit‘ is the name of this release and we are expecting nothing but incredible music and singing with this mini-album. SUHO blew us away with his first solo release ‘Self-Portrait‘, and this time he even participated in the writing of the lyrics for all the tracks.

Let’s get right into the music in this EP.

Grey Suit

We are starting off strong with the single ‘Morning Star‘ and its rock style. This single merges a touch of 90s rock with the modern one, and it is a trip to listen to/ The vocals, instrumentation and full concept blew me away, it is just so good. This vibe fits SUHO’s singing style extremely well and it is also a very refreshing and new to his discography.

We go onto the title track ‘Grey Suit‘, and for this one we get a rock ballad with a touch of grunge visuals. This single is such an easy listen, the falsettos are absolutely out of this world and the band is just flawless, a ten out of ten.

The music video is super pretty and I love the drawing effect and the CGI in it. Every single element is very subtle, delicate and yet visually appealing. Watch it below.

City noises and a lovely bass line kick off ‘Hurdle‘ and we get groovy with this track. The mix of pop-rock in this song is beyond dope. This is a hype song and I really loved every single second of it. It is fun, unique and super cool.

A new sound

Changing the vibe in this release we get the single ‘Decanting‘. This song is sensual and charming, SUHO’s singing is like a whisper in the ears, soft, slow and appealing. I am living for the style of this track, the electric guitar solo section is just unbelievably good and so smooth.

Bear Hug‘ follows up and the singing goes off in this song. SUHO’s vocalisation in this track is incredible, the chest notes are super good, and I really liked the composition and full arrangement in this song.

Closing this mini-album we get ‘Moment‘ with a lovely melody and a rock/ballad genre. The orchestration added in this song is breathe-taking, a stunning listen and the perfect culture for this incredible mini-album.

SUHO came back stronger that ever, with an album that was beautifully done and explores a new side of him as singer and artist. Make sure to listen to this release here.
