[Review] ITZY – Not Shy

The girl group ITZY is back with their latest mini-album ‘Not Shy’. Let’s dive right in to discover!

Not Shy

We open the mini-album with the title track ‘Not Shy’. This track is super fun with the saxophone and the driving beat. The chorus is catchy and will get stuck in your mind for the rest of the day. Yeji and Ryujin got a driver’s license just to be able to film the drive scenes.

After that we get the song ‘Don’t give a what’. This hype track is fantastic and will be added to all my playlists. I love the sass that is dripping out of it.

The third song is ‘Louder’. The instrumentals in this one are a lot more sparse than with the previous song. Though it allows for better focus on the members’ vocals. The rapline really came through in this one.

‘iD’ follows it with electronic funk and I’m kind of living for it. I love the tempo changes and the overall vibe of this track.

We’re already at the fifth song with ‘SURF’. This feels like a retro girl group song and I dig the soft vocals. I think it’s the first time I heard a soft song by ITZY and I’m going to need more. It almost feels like an homage to early 2000s girl group summer songs without their special ITZY touch.

‘Be in Love’ is the last track on the mini-album. Another track with fantastic vocals, though this time it’s with the plucky guitar riffing in the back. Lovely!

Overall

‘Not Shy’ is a really solid mini by ITZY. I like the variety in tones and intensity.
