EP Review: MCND – Into The ICE AGE

The guys from MCND just released their debut EP ‘Into The ICE AGE’. We’ve been hyping them up ever since they dropped the pre-debut single ‘TOP GANG’. We even featured that song in one of our Dance Choreo You Should Watch articles.

Let’s dive in!

‘Into The ICE AGE’

We start this EP off with a quite jarring intro with the same title ‘Into The ICE AGE’. It’s just a little over a minute but it’s very hypable.

The second track is ‘Ice Age’ which is also the title track and came accompanied by a music video.

‘Ice Age’ is catchy y’all. The MV itself has some really fun transition shots. It kind of feels like a different vibe than their pre-debut single ‘TOP GANG’. The chorus of ‘Ice Age’ though, hits hard! It’s hella dope. Castle J, the main rapper of MCND wrote the lyrics of the song himself.

Then we get into ‘Stereotypes’. It kind of reminds me of the nineties for some reason. I totally dig it. The vocal line gets a chance to show off in ‘Stereotypes’. Daniel Kim, the songwriter for this song has worked on multiple projects for Monsta X, SF9 and even Taemin. So you know you’re getting quality.

Hey You’ is the next track. It feels like a summer track and allows them to show another side of the new group. It’s just really really lovely.

The last song on the EP ‘Into The ICE AGE’ is MCND’s pre-debut single ‘TOP GANG’.

This song goes hard and I loved it so much the first time I heard it. It’s a song you’re never going to get sick of.

Overall

I really enjoyed this EP. I think it was a good idea for them to show their different sides on one EP, to show that they’re more than just one genre. I have a feeling 2020 is going to be their year.
