[Review] ATEEZ – THE WORLD EP.1: MOVEMENT

The boys from ATEEZ are back to rock the world with their new EP ‘THE WORLD EP.1: MOVEMENT’. Let’s dive straight in, because the teaser looked insane.

THE WORLD EP.1: MOVEMENT

We start off with the intro ‘PROPAGANDA’. This EDM opening sets the scene of this dystopian world. It’s pretty sick, I dig it.

After that we get ‘SECTOR 1’. The track is about people who live in a gray world with lots of neon signs, think ‘Blade Runner’. This is an interesting first track considering there’s a pretty cool build-up and the switches between intensity and rhythm are cool. It feels like the entire song is another build-up to the rest of the album.

Next up is ‘Cyberpunk’. Okayyyy, this song is sick! We’re going EDM with an insane descending line in the chorus. This feels very ATEEZ. It’s awesome. Jongho really said vocals in the chorus and the bridge!

The title track is ‘Guerrilla’. I am in awe! This was even better than I was expecting from the teaser. The screamo in the chorus is so well done! This track is giving major hype vibes. Just imagine being at a concert with this track, I would go insane.

The vocal layering is cool with the various instrumentals. This is a very thickly layered track. There’s a lot happening with the instrumentals and the vocals. It does feel well balanced.

Next up

‘The Ring’ is a major reference to ‘Lord of the rings’. It is another hype track, I’m really sold on the chorus and Mingyu’s rap. It’s a banger.

Next up is ‘WDIG (Where Do I Go)’. This is soul ascending stuff. Get your good headphones out and go wild. There’s quite a bit of autotune in the track, but I don’t mind it. It fits well and isn’t overused. I think it’s a sample, but there’s a guitar shred/slide effect used and I love it so much.

The closing track is ‘New World’. This feels like a very cathartic end for this mini-album. It feels like they succeeded in their mission to find the new world and there’s a lot of hope. Imagine a city in a wreck, with lots of smoke and ATEEZ and a bunch of survivors walking towards the horizon.

Overall ‘THE WORLD EP.1: MOVEMENT’ by ATEEZ is a fantastic release. It is a very coherent story and sound. I feel like each of the tracks could be the title track. They’re just all that good.
