The girls from RESCENE are back with their latest mini-album ‘PULSE’. Let’s take a closer look!
We start off with ‘Finest Thing’. According to the album description this is all about “recognizing one’s own value built over time, without being swayed by fleeting glamour”. It’s a cool track with a nice beat and a catchy hook. It is the shortest track, running a little over two minutes.
After that comes our title track ‘With’. This is a cute pop track with an interesting synth in the background during the chorus. Their vocals stand out a lot, which is lovely. The bridge has some great belting! Overall this was a great track.
‘Inside Out’ brings heavy beats and R&B harmonies which according to the album description conveys “an ecstasy that feels like standing on the boundary between reality and fantasy. “
Next up is ‘MEME’. This boasts great vocal layering, a groovy beat and a lovely progression. I loved the rap section, it was very cute. The chorus begs to sing along and will get stuck in your head for hours.
We’re closing the mini-album with ‘Dragon’. This has honestly a very cute description. It makes the: “promise to stand by each other in the face of the world’s harsh storms. The pledge to shield your young wings from the heavy rain pouring down and the stones thrown by the world contains the heartfelt desire to carefully protect your dreams. It offers a comfortable embrace to rest in when you are exhausted, and remains in the same spot so that you can think of this song whenever you feel alone. In this song, ‘protecting’ does not mean holding you back so you cannot fly, but rather offering the courage to soar higher. The promise to always be in the same place—so that one does not lose their original heart even amidst such a spectacular rise, and so that one can return to rest on lonely days.”
