EP Review: DIA – Flower, 4 Seasons

The girls from DIA are back with their new EP ‘Flower, 4 Seasons’. However, this is a sub-unit with the members: Huihyeon, Eunice, Jueun, Yebin and Eunchae. The two other members Somyi and Chaeyeon are resting and won’t be participating in the promotions for this EP.

Let’s dive in!

Flower, 4 Seasons

We start off with the track ‘Daily’. It’s a lovely pop-ballad, with really nice instrumentation. There are some beautiful high notes in there and overall, a really smooth listen.

Next up is their title track ‘Hug U’ that came with a brand new music video.

The girls all look beautiful and I’m really curious to see the full choreography. ‘Hug U’ borders on a ballad style. It’s absolutely lovely and Eunice hitting those high notes really shows her vocal chops. It’s quite a shift from their previous title tracks and refreshing to hear.

‘To You’ follows that and is written, co-composed and co-arranged by Jueun. I feel like this song has potential to be an OST for a K-drama. I really enjoyed the members’ harmony and the fact that Jueun had such a big hand in creating it, makes it even better.

Next up is the track ‘Nobody Knows’ that was co-written and co-composed by Yebin. I really dig the instrumentation in this track. It has some jazz influences that absolutely elevate this track. The synths in the back are well used throughout ‘Nobody Knows’.

After that, we get the two instrumental tracks for ‘Daily’ and ‘Hug U’.

Overall

‘Flower, 4 Seasons’ by DIA is a really lovely addition to their discography. I’m curious to see where they’ll go musically after this.

I couldn’t find the EP on Spotify yet, but here’s their Artist Profile so keep an eye out.
