[Review] YVES – I Did

Yves is back with her second solo mini-album ‘I Did’. We’re super curious to see which music she’s gifting us this time. According to the album description this album contains the emotions Eve encountered while searching for peace and the search for her inner self. Rapper IOAH teamed up with MILLIC for the writing and producing of the EP. Let’s dive right in.

I Did

We start off with the title track ‘Viola’. This is a super cool electronic R&B track. The chorus is a total earworm and you’ll be singing along in no time. ‘Viola’ is a cool girl track and if it was released a couple of months before would have fit right in with ‘brat summer’.

Hashtag’ comes along with a really cool vibey intro. I love the vocal runs during the pre-chorus. It’s fully in English. The drums in this are delicious and honestly this full track is ear candy.

Next up is ‘Gone Girl’. This is a smooth R&B track with steady vocals and a pop storytelling. It’s an easy listen with a steady progression. The chorus has some lovely vocal layering.

‘Tik Tok’ was pre-released as a single at the end of August. It has a groovy rhythm to it. I’m really digging the guitars and the plucky bass. I enjoyed the little adlibs in the back, the vocal stacking overall is super lovely. The instrumental bridge was lovely! This was a fun listen.

We’re closing the EP with ‘DIM’. The trap beat is nicely balanced with the soft vocals. I losve the little additions of the adlibs. It creates a dynamic effect and a nice listen.

Overall ‘I Did’ by Yves was a lovely listen. Go ahead and check out the mini-album on Spotify here.
