XIUMIN is back with his second official solo mini-album ‘Interview X’. Let’s take a closer look!
Interview X
We start off with the groovy ‘Can’t help myself’. I absolutely love this! It’s funky, it’s groovy and a bit disco. This is a fantastic opener, if not too short in my humble opinion.
Next up is the title track ‘WHEE!’. This is a UK garage-based dance song with fun synths and a great vibe. I couldn’t sit still while listening to this! The chorus is a total earworm.
Following that comes ‘Make you LaLa’. This is a rock based track with a lot of happy energy. I really enjoyed this vibe and the guitars were delightful. The chanting was a lot of fun and added even more energy.
‘Switch Off’ is a stunning city pop track and is one of my favorites from the album and what else could it be since Exy and Sohlhee wrote the lyrics for this one. Xiumin’s vocals really shine here.
‘Lost Paradise’ brings in the R&B. I was a bit surprised by the rap to the more EDM based instrumental, but honestly I’m not mad about it. It creates an interesting flow to the track. The vocals in the chorus and the bridge are stunning.
We close the album with ‘Love is U’. We’re finally getting our ballad and it’s a super lovely combo of strings and piano which always tugs at our heartstrings. That together with Xiumin’s clear vocals create a beautiful listening experience. This track contains his gratitude to the fans.
