[Review] SEVENTEEN – SEMI;COLON

The boys from SEVENTEEN are already back with their new mini-album ‘SEMI;COLON’. I don’t know how they do it, but I’m always expecting quality when it comes to them.

Let’s dive in!

SEMI;COLON

We start off with the title track ‘HOME;RUN’. A funky, happy song with lots of brass and I’m 100% digging this. I love the swing vibes and honestly, if you feel down just listen to this and let it be a comfort.

Next up is the song ‘Do Re Mi’. The bass in this is so, so good. This song is by the sub-unit Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino. This trio blends so well together. It feels incredibly well balanced.

‘Hey Buddy’ by The8, Mingyu and DK follows that. The jazz instrumentals mixed with a little retro funk is everything I didn’t know I needed. The8 getting proper lines is well-deserved. When they added the choir sample, I got actual chills.

We’re on track number four with ‘Light a flame’. Wonwoo, it is illegal to talk to me in that low of a voice. Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi make up the sub-unit this time. The Bossa Nova elements with the members’ vocals are a fantastic combination. The brass solo was excellent.

Next up is ‘AH! LOVE’ with members S.Coups, Jeonghan and Joshua. This is probably the softest song so far. I really dig the soft acoustic guitar mixed with the soft vocals. The instrumentals during S.Coups rap verse had me shook. Overall 10/10.

The last song is ‘All My Love’. I was waiting for that proper SEVENTEEN ballad and with ‘All My Love’ they delivered. This has all of the members and I love the fact that they opened and closed with a group song.

Overall, this special album ‘SEMI;COLON’ by SEVENTEEN is insane and I loved every minute of it. I’m 100% here for jazzy SEVENTEEN and I hope they keep doing that, because WOW.
