[Review] SEVENTEEN – Heng:garae

Our boys from SEVENTEEN are back with their new mini album ‘Heng:garae’. I’ve been stoked about this since the teasers were released so let’s dive right in!

Heng:garae

The first track is ‘Fearless’. The opening legit had me in chills, especially when it was followed with Vernon’s rapping. I wonder if it’s a continuation of their previous single ‘Fear’. ‘Fearless’ is a really cool track with some dark EDM that comes in and out with some of the members’ lines. It’s absolutely incredible.

Next up is their title track ‘Left & Right’. It came accompanied by a new music video that just feels so ‘them’.

This track shows more of their playful side but it also comes with a great message, so turn on your captions to read the translations.

‘I Wish’ starts off slow and immediately sets the tone for this ballad. The tempo picks up a little bit, but it still sits in that ballad genre. There are some great vocals in there and I’m absolutely in love with the instrumentals. It kind of feels jazzy. The rap verse at the end was a splendid way to end ‘I Wish’.

Next up is ‘My, My’ which was pre-released. You can find our article about that one here. I’ll put in the video anyways, because it’s just the cutest thing.

‘Kidult’ is already the fifth track on the mini album. The vocals y’all. Please go read the translated lyrics for ‘Kidult’ here. It makes the song even better. I’m a little caught up in my feels right now. DK’s high notes are *chef’s kiss*.

The last track is ‘Together’ and leaves us with an uplifting feeling. I love the anime feeling and the way they played with the instrumentals again. Also I’m a total sucker for group chants in a song, so it’s an A+ for me.

Overall

‘Heng:garae’ by SEVENTEEN really hit the mark and I can’t wait to see the choreography videos and the music bank shows. I love the songs and their replay value. If you need comforting go for ‘Kidult’ and ‘My, My’, if you want to feel brave listen to ‘Left & Right’.

Go listen to the mini album on Spotify.
