[Review] KINGDOM – History of Kingdom Pt.III Ivan

The boys from KINGDOM are back with their third EP of this year ‘History of Kingdom Pt.III Ivan’. In this chapter of their story they focus on Ivan who is fighting with his good and evil side. In their previous chapters they’ve spoken about King Arthur and Chiwoo. Let’s dive right in!

History of Kingdom Pt.III Ivan

We start off with ‘Intro: Legacy of Hatred’. This very theatrical opening sets the scene to the story of Ivan in his Snow Kingdom. Think of Ivan The Terrible, the grand prince and first tsar of Russia. I really enjoyed the grand scope of the song and the howling winds create a devastating picture in your mind.

‘Black Crown’ is the tite track. What an interesting collision between the pop vocals and the very orchestral instrumentation. This feels super second gen with its experimental sound. It’s incredibly well done and definitely leaves an impact.

After that comes ‘Fallen Star’. This one has a more contemporary sound. It mixes pop with a dash of R&B and some super smooth synths thrown in. The vocals were excellent and really well layered. Also damn that falsetto around 3.10 is fire.

Next up is ‘We Are’. This pop track is super fun to listen to. It’s cheerful, has a summer nostalgic vibe and the chorus is funky! I really, really dig this one. The plucky synths they used are super dope.

‘Burn’ follows that with synth filled pop single is really fun! It’s really catchy and I like the retro feel to it. There’s a really cute build-up that is super satisfying.

The last track is ‘ON AIR’. We close off with a very cute pop track. This feels like the end-of-concert track where everyone gears up to say goodbye.

Overall, ‘History of Kingdom Pt.III Ivan’ by KINGDOM is another great addition to their discography. It’s well done, has some amazing sounds and their storyline continues on strong.
