[Review] EXO-SC – 1 Billion Views

After a long wait, EXO-SC is back with their first album. This comeback was a long-waited one and after the pre-released track we were hyped up with the music Sehun and Chanyeol have prepared for their fans.

Let’s start off!

1 Billion Views

The title track ‘1 Billion Views’ kicks off this album featuring the R&B singer MOON. This song is an unexpected title track. It is smooth, groovy and its R&B tempo makes it a song to chill to and just enjoy thoroughly.

Watch the music video below, and enjoy the fantastic and chill concept EXO-SC has for this comeback.

Next on the list we have ‘Say It’ featuring the one and only PENOMECO. This song is groovy and super cool. PENOMECO’s vocals and rapping style fits with Sehun and Chanyeol vocals perfectly. The full track feels super organic and mellow.

Rodeo Station’ follows it with a very unique flow, the inclusion of the electric guitar for the chorus was quite unexpected but what I found most interesting was how their voices were slightly enhanced with autotune, but it was so minimal that it was only noticeable at parts of the song. This was a peculiar and very cool touch.

The pre-released song ‘Telephone’ featuring 10cm follows it. I absolutely loved how cute and smooth this track is. What made the song even better was the music video screaming 90s baby but with a modern touch. Watch it below.

In an unexpected change of mood we have ‘Jet Lag’ with some lo-fi beats that for sure deliver the feel of this song. I absolutely loved the low and deep vocals of Chanyeol and how Sehun complimented them so well. Total legends.

Fly Away’ featuring Gaeko, plays with incredible instrumentation and a layering that had me in shock for the almost four minutes this track runs. It was a completely unexpected addition to this album but everything about it is great.

We go onto the solo tracks starting with Chanyeol’s ‘Nothin’. This track feels heavier in comparison to the other songs of this album, there is a lot of bass that flows flawlessly with his lyrics delivery and an electric guitar solo that made this song emotional and memorable. Watch the MV below.

On Me’ by Sehun plays next with beats that will have you jamming to this song as soon as the first beat drops. It definitely has a very interesting mixing but I absolutely dig this style, it is refreshing, fun and super captivating.

Lastly on this release we have the instrumental version of the title track, and it definitely closes this album nicely.

EXO-SC did not disappoint with this EP. It was everything I expected and way more. Make sure to listen to this masterpiece below.
