NCT WISH is back with new music in their fourth mini-album, ‘I SPY’! It’s been around six months since their latest comeback, so let’s get right into it and see what the youngest NEOS have prepared for us this time.
I SPY
The mini-album kicks off with the title track ‘I SPY’, a hybrid-pop track driven by intense bass and synths. As expected, NCT WISH delivers fantastic harmonies and flawless ad-libs. This single leans into a slightly experimental sound, featuring some very interesting layering and arrangement in the bridge, followed by a smooth transition. It’s definitely a solid, distinctly NEO title track!
‘We Own This Street’ takes over with an EDM-pop mix and a seriously cool vibe. The rapping is laid-back, while the transitions feel sleek and effortlessly vibey.
With ‘UPGRADE’, we move into EDM territory with an old-school Hip-Hop feel. The bounce in this track is fantastic, and the mixing makes it sound trendy, fresh, and sleek.
‘Super Major’ showcases NCT WISH’s brighter, more playful side. This track is an adorable listen, with super-pretty harmonies and a playful flow that make it both charming and captivating.
Next, we move into R&B territory with ‘Hubble Time’. Smooth and vibey, the track features a sophisticated flow and stunning vocal harmonies that had us totally hooked from beginning to end.
The release closes with ‘Like A Dream’, a track that samples the well-known song ‘Close to You’ by The Carpenters. With its softer R&B sound, fantastic vocals, and emotional lyrical delivery, it’s a stunning and delicate way to bring the mini-album to an end.
NCT WISH has once again delivered a balanced and musically diverse release, showing off different sides of their sound while keeping their signature charm. Make sure to dive in and enjoy ‘I SPY’ for yourself!
