Kim Ji-won (a.k.a. Bobby) is our feature of this week. He is a singer-songwriter, rapper and also a member of the YG idol group iKon.
Bobby started off his career as a trainee in YG Entertainment, he participated in the 2013 YG survival show ‘Win: Who is Next?’. His team (Team B) gained a lot of attention with their performances, Bobby also got a lot of recognition from the media and fans with his rapping skills and his stage presence.
‘Team B’ didn’t win the survival show but his participation led him and his teammate B.I. to participate in the well-known rappers survival show ‘Show Me The Money 3’. Bobby was the first idol rapper winner in the show. Here are a few of his performances from the show.
After winning ‘SMTM3’, Bobby filmed YG survival show ‘Mix & Match’, from this show the idol group iKon was formed, and they officially debuted in 2015.
Bobby was one of the features in Epik High’s legendary song ‘Born Hater’, and he became the first trainee who had a stage at the MAMA 2014 awards without having officially debuted.
In 2016, Bobby was part of the rap duo MOBB along with his label mate Song Mino, releasing the EP ‘The MOBB’. This album included the two co-performed singles ‘Full House’ and ‘KUSH’, and the solos ‘Body’ by Mino and ‘HOLUP!’ by Bobby.
Ji-won debuted as a solo artist in 2017 with the album ‘Love and Fall’, he co-produced and wrote all the tracks of this studio album and released music videos for three tracks. This album did really well in the Korean charts, as well as the Billboard music charts, reaching the second place.
Since his single debut, Bobby has mostly worked with iKon, he is one of the songwriters for the group and he is also involved in the production of some of them.
