EP Review: VERIVERY – FACE ME

VERIVERY has released their new EP ‘FACE ME’, which, according to their album introduction is their first installment in the ‘FACE it’ series.

The group is still quite new, having only debuted in January 2019, but they’ve been delivering really great content. This EP is no different.

‘FACE ME’

We start the EP off with the track ‘PHOTO’. The whispers in the beginning had all of the hairs on my arms rise. WHEW, what a way to start. The sirens in the background of the chorus make this a really intense song. There’s a sort of dissonance with the vocals and it is frankly amazing.

The next song is the title track ‘Lay Back’

The video is stunning! The cinematography combined with the choreography is top tier work. The references of facing yourself that is mentioned in the lyrics and is used throughout the MV with the actual mirrors is really well done.

The song’s just really great and I love it.

‘Paradise’ is up next. I’m getting soft summer vibes with this song. The vocals really have time to shine in ‘Paradise’ and it’s really soothing.

The fourth song on ‘FACE ME’ is ‘Curtain Call’. It’s an upbeat, catchy track but that bridge really surprised me. Dope! 100% a feel-good song.

With the song ‘MOMENT’ VERIVERY closes off the album. A ballad that kind of gave me all the feels. The vocal clarity here had me shook, the harmonies as well. I need an English translation of the lyrics asap, because I have a feeling it’s going to make me sad. What a beautiful track.

I’m very impressed with ‘FACE ME’ by VERIVERY. Every song is super solid and honestly the talent here is amazing. I definitely need to do a deep-dive after this.

Go give them some love on Twitter!
