[Review] YENA – SMARTPHONE

YENA is back with her second mini-album ‘SMARTPHONE’. Her previous EP was a complete bop, you can read our review on that here. Let’s dive in!

SMARTPHONE

The opening track is ‘Make U Smile’. I was not expecting the EP to open with a piano ballad. The soft song has YENA’s mesmerizing vocals and a beautiful piano instrumental. It’s really quite lovely.

Next up is the title track ‘SMARTPHONE’. This is a super fun pop rock track with some cooll instrumentation and a very cute theme. The MV is absolutely adorable! The fact that the chick is fighting with a leek is hilarious.

‘WithOrWithOut’ follows that. This has more of a rock sound and reminds me a bit of Avril Lavigne. It’s dope. I would love to see this with a live band.

Next up is ‘Lemon-Aid’. I like this so much. It’s a cute 90s pop track that is super refreshing. I like the bass and the build-up to the chorus. That chorus is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

The closing track is ‘U’. I was immediately hooked with the brass opening. It’s giving ‘High School Musical’ but it’s a vibe. I love it!

Overall ‘SMARTPHONE’ by YENA is another great EP. Go ahead and listen to it on Spotify here.
