[Review] Weeekly – PlayGame: Holiday

The girls from Weeekly are back to bless us with their new EP ‘PlayGame: Holiday’. We’re ready for some summer bops so let’s dive right in!

PlayGame: Holiday

We start off with the track ‘Weekend’ and I’m kinda sad that they didn’t add a third e to the word. I think it’d have been very cute. Regardless, this dance pop track is a very cute listen. It has some catchy synth to it and some fluttering flutes in the back. I think the autotune for some parts was a great choice as it adds to the full feel of the song.

Next up is ‘Check It Out’. It follows the same vibe of the previous tack more or less. There are some different elements as the chanting and the whistling. It’s another fun track that reminds me of watergames with friends and family.

The title track ‘Holiday Party’ comes next. This is an absolute banger! It’s catchy, their vocals are great and it’s an interesting duality with the low bass and their high vocals.

‘La Luna’ follows that with a Future Bass genre. It’s an interesting track, but there’s a lot happening at once. I wish they had toned down the instrumentals a little as their vocals get a bit lost at times.

The last track is ‘Summer Rain’. We finish with a warm ballad that lets their vocals shine. It feels like a wholesome end to their holiday. I love it.

Overall, Weeekly did a really good job with ‘PlayGame: Holiday’. It’s a fun listen and has some great tracks to play on loop for a while. You can find the EP on Spotify here.
