[Offstage] Universal Arts Center

We’re back with a new Offstage feature, this time we’re writing about another popular K-pop music video location: the Universal Arts Center.

Those Red Seats

Even if you’ve never been to Korea, you will definitely recognize this arts center from the countless music videos that were filmed there.

The iconic plush red theatre seats are a dead giveaway in any music video. If the directors want to add a lush, luxurious feel where better to film than in the Universal Arts Center in Seoul where normally people go watch ballet or opera.

The theater was built in 1981, specifically designed to host opera. Here’s the venue’s official site.

Let’s take a look at some of the music videos that were filmed there.

Music Videos

A.C.E – Savage

Jessi – Who Dat B

EXO – Love Shot

April – The Blue Bird

ONEUS – Come Back Home

BVNDIT – JUNGLE

WayV – Regular

MONSTA X – Who do you love?

Lastly, if we missed a few that were film in the Universal Arts Center in Seoul, feel free to drop them in the comments. If you want to take a look at another popular music video set, you can click here to check out the feature on the Gimcheon school building.

Update – We might just have found one of the earliest music videos filmed at the Center. You can spot the location in the 1998 music video ‘Na Na Na’ by Yoo Seung Jun at 4:05.
