[Review] TAEYEON – INVU

Our queen TAEYEON is back with her third full-length album ‘INVU’. Let’s dive right in, because we’ve been heavily anticipating this one.

INVU

TAEYEON starts off the album with the title track ‘INVU’. The House instrumentals blend seamlessly with the airy synths. Taeyeon’s vocals are also super impressive and this track, overall is just super catchy.

The music video is insanely beautiful. Taeyeon looks out of this world.

‘Some Nights’ is a pop R&B ballad that gets elevated by the warm vocals. The bridge is so prettily layered. I love it. The full track is definitely a listening experience, WOW. Also check out the translated lyrics here.

After that we get the pre-released ‘Can’t Control Myself’ which we wrote about here.

‘Set Myself on Fire’ follows that up. The play with silences is great and builds the tension. This is such a cool track. Taeyeon harmonises with herself in the bridge and it’s lovely. It’s quite chill-inducing.

‘Toddler’ is GROOVY. We get some really dope bass blending with a retro vibe. I genuinely wish there was a music video for this one. It could be so interesting to watch if you consider the lyrics.

Next up is ‘SIREN’. It kind of sounds like there’s a steel pan drum in the instrumentals. It’s a mid-tempo pop ballad that kind of has a theatrical vibe to it. The police siren in the back is a nice touch. Also Taeyeon raps? Or at least it sounds like a rap. We stan.

Next up

‘Cold As Hell’ follows that and I love the vengeful energy. I am in LOVE with the instrumentals! The organ synths, the angst, the instrumental sections? DOPE as hell! I wish that they had gone absolutely bonkers in the chorus.

After that we get ‘Timeless’. This synth pop track feels very nostalgic and maybe a little bit bittersweet. The lyrics are very sweet.

‘Heart’ starts with a cool guitar riff that sets a nice pace. The pop ballad is lovely and has quite a nice build up. I love this, it feels so warm.

‘No Love Again’ brings back some tempo with its retro pop. It’s a vibe and I absolutely loved the bridge. The drums really build a fun ambience that makes you want to dance.

Next up is ‘You Better Not’. I am obsessed. This is such a cool girl song. The rock guitars are awesome and I love the groove of this.

After that comes the song ‘Weekend’ which was pre-released a while back. You can read more about that here. This song still slaps.

The closing track is ‘Ending Credits’. This is Disney level ‘feel your heart swell up because of emotions’ music. The synths are awesome and help create this BIG swell of emotions.

Overall ‘INVU’ is a lovely album by TAEYEON. She just keeps impressing me with every release and I know this one will be another timeless release.

Go ahead and listen to it here.
