[Review] Ryeowook – A Wild Rose

Super Junior’s Ryeowook is back with his third mini-album ‘A Wild Rose’. Let’s dive in to discover new music.

A Wild Rose

The opening track and title track is ‘Hiding Words’. We get a stunning ballad with expressive lyrics and of course the wonderful vocals of Ryeowook. The music video is aesthetics all around and some impressive acting.

‘Everlasting Love’ follows that with a haunting piano opening. I love how the instrumentals get built up slowly. There’s almost a bit of diaogue-like interaction between the strings and Ryeowook’s vocal line. It’s nice!

After that we get ‘Bluebird’. This feels a bit more groovy. The electric guitar is impressive and the track feels very laidback. It’s dope. This was pre-released a couple of days ago.

‘To Me’ is a modern rock track that has a cool build-up. It’s an incredibly smooth listen.

Next up is ‘Angel’s Wing’. This is a groovy R&B ballad with some really cool synths in the backing track. This requires a black-and-white MV with silk pirate shirts for that extra pinch of drama.

‘Crying’ is a pop track with some lovely acoustic guitar. What a fun moment! When he uses his falsetto, I was sold on this track.

The closing track is ‘My Dear’. This is a proper ballad with piano and strings and it just works marvelously well.

Overall ‘A Wild Rose’ by Ryeowook is a very enjoyable EP. Go ahead and listen to it on Spotify here.
