[Review] ONEWE – Planet Nine: Alter Ego

The boys from ONEWE are back to bless us with new music in their new mini-album ‘Planet Nine: Alter Ego’. This is their first mini-album, so let’s dive right in!

Planet Nine: Alter Ego

We start off with the intro single ‘Intro: Spaceship’. This minute long track sets the mood with the take off of a spaceship. I really like the soundscape they created. Also that guitar solo by Kanghyun is super nice.

Next up is the title track ‘Rain To Be’. According to the album description they were inspired by the fact that it often rains during ONEWE’s activities. The song plays with expectations and diverts from where you think it’s going to go. Really well done!

The music video is beautiful and I can’t wait to see behind the scenes as they’re playing their instruments while literally under water.

‘AuRoRa’ follows that with a synesthetic experience. It’s absolutely stunning and the vocals add so much depth to the performance. It’s the kind of track that you have to blast in your car or with your good headphones to *feel*. I love it so much. The bridge is otherworldly.

We’re introduced to ‘LOGO’ after that. I’m living for this soft rock vibe. That guitar shredding in the bridge is absolutely fabulous, the same counts for the vocals.

Next up

‘A.I.’ brings in some synths and a very pop-like beat. It’s city pop meets jazz and it’s such an interesting combo. It’s super cute, soft and a shot of serotonin.

Next up is ‘Veronica’. The instrumentals of this one feel very summery and I like the vibe of this track. We get some very dynamic guitar and drum skills. It’s lovely to hear.

The last track on this album is ‘COSMOS’. If you need a good cry, might I suggest putting this song on in the background. This totally OST-worthy song is proof of all the puzzle pieces working together to create one beautiful picture or in this case song. It’s an absolute experience listening to this track. What a great ending to a great album.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to ‘Planet Nine: Alter Ego’ by ONEWE. They just keep getting better and better in creating unique soundscapes for their tracks and it shows.
