[Review] Honey Sweet

We’re back with a new film review and this time we’re writing about the Korean film ‘Honey Sweet’. Let’s take a closer look!

Honey Sweet

‘Honey Sweet’ was released in 2023 and was directed by Lee Han who also directed ‘Punch’ and ‘Innocent Witness’. The film was written by Lee Byeong-Hun who also wrote ‘Extreme Job‘ and the Netflix series ‘Chicken Nugget’.

‘Honey Sweet’ tells the story of Chi-Ho (Yu Hae-Jin) who works in a snack company. He’s been following a routine and due to an accident in his youth is a bit slower on the uptake. He’s a very kind man, although a bit socially awkward.

His monotony is broken up when he meets single mother Il-Young (Kim Hee-Seon). She’s forward, not afraid to stand up for herself and is working to settle her debt. They meet during her shift at the bank and she decides to pursue him romantically.

It’s adorable, the two are soft and sweet towards each other.

The cast has some incredible names in the line-up. There’s Byeong-Hoon, the CEO of Chi-Ho’s company, portrayed by Jin Sun-Kyu. Chi-Ho’s brother is portrayed by Cha In-Pyo. Yum Hye-Ran appears as a pharmacist for a minute. Im Si-Wan gives a cameo appearance as someone who’s courting Il-Young’s neighbour.

Overall, ‘Honey Sweet’ is an adorable feel-good film that will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.
