[Review] GHOST9 – PRE EPISODE 2: W.ALL

The 2020 rookies GHOST9 are back with their new EP ‘PRE EPISODE 2: W.ALL’. Let’s check this out straight away because I’ve been waiting for this one!

PRE EPISODE 2: W.ALL

We start off the EP with ‘Peace (intro)’. Honestly, it’s a tragedy that this is the intro. The track has a very grandiose feeling with a lot of brass. It sounds really cool.

We slide right into the next track ‘SPLASH’. The opening riff reminds me of early 2010s pop music. This is such a fun listen. The build-up is lovely and has a decent pay-off. The song has a rather abrupt ending but I kinda dig it.

Next up is the title track ‘W.ALL’. I have to admit, I wasn’t immediately sold until the chorus came in and I was in for it. This dance track has a lot of EDM and some hip-hop elements. The music video is kinda crazy. There’s a bot from ‘Transformers’ there? I’m not 100% sure where their storyline is going, but I’m curious enough to go along for the ride.

We’re on track number four with ‘Red Sign’. We’re going the dubstep route. Though we still get some melody in the chorus which I’m grateful for. The rapline really made this track.

After that we get ‘Focus’. The catchy hook is perfect to hum along to. I really enjoyed this one. It feels like a good blend between EDM and enough melodic elements to still come across as heartfelt.

The last track on the EP is ‘Way to you’ which is the softest song on this release. It feels quite summer-y. It is absolutely lovely. The vocals have all the room to shine. ‘Way to you’ feels very youthful.
