[Review] Epik High – Epik High Is Here 下

The legends from Epik High are back with their new album ‘Epik High Is Here 下 (Part 2)‘. If you have been following us for a while you know how much we love this trio and their incredible music.

It’s been a year since ‘Epik High Is Here (Part 1)’, and even though they have release a few singles, we were looking forward to listen to the music created by Tablo, Mithra and Dj Tukutz. Let’s dive into this release.

Epik High Is Here 下

Here‘ starts off the release with a minimalist instrumentation and Tablo’s verses keeping it real and raw. We seamlessly move to ‘Prequel‘ and this track is packed with dope beats, cool samples, and Mihtra and Tablo’s awesome rapping. These two tracks set the mood for this release and had me absolutely hyped up.

Wonstein and pH-1 are featured in ‘Super Rare‘. For this track we get some fantastic violin instrumentation mixed with hip-hop beats and a killer style. Wonstein’s singing is heavenly in this song. I loved the harmony between the rapping sections and his singing. Absolutely stunning to listen to.

We go onto the title single ‘Gray So Gray‘ featuring Younha, and we go deep into our feelings with this track. The lyrics of this song are sad, raw, real and beautifully written, Younha’s singing delivered the emotional load of it to perfection and made it an emotive listen. Check the lyric video below, and you may want to have your tissues ready.

Lo-fi beats take over in ‘BRB‘ and I am living for the vibe in this song. The full combo of beats and rapping is just perfect, and the instrumentals added absolutely breath-taking. A total piece of art.

I Hated Myself (Tablo’s Word)‘ comes next and left me absolutely speechless with not just the incredible lyrical load but also with the arrangement and instrumentation. This track hits different and really just reiterates that Epik High is in a league of their own.

Soulful music

Next up is the pre-release track ‘Rain Song‘ featuring Colde, and the only thing left to say is that to this day we are still vibin’ to this song. Watch the music video below.

Lee Hi blesses our ears in ‘Rich Kids Anthem‘. I have been looking forward to a new feature with her since 2017, and it did not disappoint. This song is smooth and it also goes hard, I loved the mix, style and the sound.

Face ID‘ featuring GIRIBOY, Sik-K and JUSTHIS follows up. This song still hits as hard as it did when it was released. We already wrote about this track, make sure to check it here.

Piano acoustics take over in ‘Piano For Sale‘ creating a bit of an interlude moment. It slides smoothly into the next track ‘Family Portrait‘ featuring Kim Feel. Emotions come along with this track and it just hits different. I was absolutely stunned with the soul and raw emotions put into this song, and Kim Feel’s vocals just intensified the moment. Just beautiful.

Last on this release is ‘Champagne‘ creating some emotional backlash but concluding this release on a top note. The instrumentation, rapping and backing vocals in this song are amazing, and I just loved how this track perfectly ends this beautifully done album.

Dive in and enjoy this listening experience here. Epik High never disappoints.
