[Review] Destined With You

In this week’s drama review, prepare to immerse yourself in a world where destinies intertwine, magic dances with reality, and love unfolds in unexpected ways. Join us on a journey through the enchanting world of the JTBC production ‘Destined With You.’

Crafted by Fate

Written by Noh Ji-Sul and skillfully directed by Nah Ki-hoon, ‘Destined With You’ weaves a tale of two individuals, brought together by the threads of destiny itself.

Lee Hong-jo (Jo Bo-ah), is a diligent civil servant whose daily grind involves handling a lot of civilian complaints and navigating a sea of professional challenges. As her workload intensifies, she’s thrust into increasingly unusual situations, including a visit to an old house rumored to be cursed.

During her quest to explore this enigmatic location, she encounters Jang Shin-Yu (Rowoon), a renowned lawyer whose striking looks and impressive legal prowess have garnered attention far and wide. An uncanny encounter in the old house leaves Hong-jo believing that Shin-Yu is a ghost, leading to a comical fainting spell. However, their paths cross once more when she discovers he is not a specter but rather a lawyer who has recently taken a position at her workplace.

Shin-yu carries a heavy burden – a mysterious ailment for which he has found no cure. However, a glimmer of hope emerges when Hong-jo receives a cryptic box containing magical spells, one of which offers a potential remedy for diseases.

When Hong-jo, after a particularly challenging day, resorts to using a love spell from the box to enchant her crush Ha Jun (Kwon Jae-Kyung), another twist of fate intervenes. Shin-yu accidentally consumes the potion, leading to a complicated love triangle as he is already in a relationship with Yura (Yoon Na-yeon) and is expected to marry her.

Reawakening Memories

As Hong-jo grapples with her spell-induced mistake, she and Shin-yu embark on a journey to break the enchantment. Along the way, they unearth life-altering revelations: their destinies were intertwined even before their births, and Shin-yu’s current relationship is far from what he believed it to be.

Their bond deepens as they navigate the challenges of breaking the spell, finding solace and love in each other. However, they must also reconcile their current lives and clear the path for a blossoming romance.
