The boy group ATBO is back with their new mini-album ‘The Beginning : 始作’. Let’s dive right in to discover what they brought fans with this comeback.
The Beginning : 始作
We start off with the title track ‘ATTITUDE’. Honestly, I dig this one. The layering with the beat samples is pretty cool and despite being quite thin, the track definitely holds the interest with the rapping and attitude (pun intended) of the members.
‘Time To Go!’ comes up next. I had to listen to it a couple of times to understand where it was going. It’s funky, switches things up completely like a dozen times but is somehow held together and feels like a solid unit. I’m intrigued.
After that we get ‘MAGIC’. This one was co-composed by the two ATBO members Junseok, Yeonkyu. It’s a cute disco pop track with a fun vibe and a thank you to the fans.
‘BOOST’ is a trap dance track with the sickest rap verses of the album so far. I really enjoyed this one! The chorus is sickening and slaps hard.
‘The Way’ had me believe for a couple of seconds we were going country, but alas. We’re going pop punk according to the album description. This is a perfect song to shout along to during a concert. The bridge had me do a double take because I thought the next song was playing. This really is a song filled with misdirections.
The closing track is ‘Good Vibes Only’. Talk about a musical whiplash! We’re going soft pop for this one in a lovely midtone register with warm vocals. It’s cute.
