[Review] Ailee – AMY

Ailee is back to awe us with her vocals in her full-length album ‘AMY’. Let’s dive right in because I have high expectations!

AMY

We start off with the track ‘New Ego’. This jazzy up-tempo single sets the tone for this album. What a cool vibe! The instrumentation is a total party. The brass is sexy and super fun.

We continue that similar vibe with the swing track ‘Don’t teach me’. I did have to giggle because in the music video the men are wearing masks and they remind me of the rich people in ‘Squid Game’. The title track was co-written by Ailee and RAVI and composed by RAVI and Hwang Hyun from MonoTree. The bridge feels luxurious and the entire single fits her tone so well.

After that we get ‘Bling’. This pop meets EDM track is a really fun listen. The whistle notes they added in the instrumentation are lovely and add a really nice dimension to the track. The bridge again is super sexy with the way they layered Ailee’s vocals.

‘My Lips’ is another swing retro track. I hope that some Ailee fans that practice swing dance upload some dance videos. I think that would be so cool. The big brass band in the instrumentation really makes this track super cool.

The last new track on the album is ‘#MCM (Man Crush Monday)’. This pop track has a lot of 808 bit influences and a super sick bass line. I’d never really heard of the ‘man crush monday’ concept but it sounds like a fun trend for social media.

The track ‘Tattoo’, ‘525’, ‘Make up your mind’, ‘Lose Myself To You’ and ‘Ain’t Talkin About Me’ were pre-released on the EP ‘LOVIN”. ‘Beautiful Disaster’ and ‘What if I’ were on her 2020 EP ‘I’m’.
