Film Review: Bring The Soul

This weekend I was lucky enough to go see the BTS concert film: ‘Bring The Soul’. It was the second concert film I saw by them and I loved it even more than ‘Burn The Stage’.

I was originally going to watch it in Liffey Valley, but then I was so busy I forgot about it and then I couldn’t get any tickets anymore. Luckily, a friend of mine mentioned the film was playing in the Omniplex in Rathmines so we went together.

Now, first of all, the film itself was really well edited. All of the BTS members; RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook arrive in a beautiful apartment in Paris. They get together to have a very fancy dinner and basically talk about their feelings and the general tour. The boys broke all kinds of records by selling out the shows so quickly all around the globe. Legendary behaviour really.

There are ups and downs as there are in any story. Somehow it almost felt more heartbreaking because these are real people and ARMY (myself included obviously) is so invested in them as a group and want them to be healthy and happy. Jungkook for example, hurt himself quite early on in the tour and it was incredibly sad to see how he wasn’t able to perform his 100% and how his  members flocked to him to cheer him up.

As a person and as a fan, the behind the scenes footage just makes you appreciate everything they do even more. It took them blood, sweat and tears to get to where they are now. I’m incredibly proud of them and will continue to watch their journey to what is probably world domination. Namjoon for president.

The dinner in Paris is broken up throughout the entire movie with clips and moments from their tour and their long travels. I’m guessing they’re pretty done with planes at this point. Also a quick shout out to RJ, the llama from the BT21 line. Jin was holding the stuffed toy every time they were on the plane and all I could think was, ‘how is a grown man so cute?’.

It’s interesting to see how they feel conflicted if they want to go sightseeing a little bit during their time off. Every time they want to, they need to have security and a manager with them. I can’t imagine the kind of stress that puts them under.

To watch the concert film I definitely think you should have at least a little bit of an idea of who is who, but I think this is mostly a film for BTS fans. They outdid themselves, but then again, they could sell movie tickets for a marathon of all of their music videos and I’d still get one.
