Actor Spotlight: Jin Goo

We’re back with a new Actor Spotlight and this time I wanted to highlight the incredible work by actor Jin Goo. Let’s take a closer look!

Debut

Jin Goo debuted in the 2003 drama ‘All In’. He played the younger version of actor Lee Byung-Hyun.

One of his first break-out roles was in the 2007 film ‘The Epitaph’ which earned him the Best New Actor at the Golden Cinematography Awards.

His major breakthrough came in 2008 with his role in the Bong Joon-Ho film ‘Mother’.

2016 was another great year for him as he starred in the insanely popular ‘Descendants of the Sun’.

Jin Goo was also in the popular series ‘Mr. Sunshine’ where he reunited with Lee Byung-Hyun.

Jin Goo is more often found in films than in dramas, but the dramas he chooses tend to be massively successful.

I think he fits the broody characters like a glove, but it’s when he has to portray scenes or roles that show sincerity or a certain fragility that he truly shines. His portrayal of Jae-Sik in ‘You’re so precious to me’ proved that to me. Though to be fair, that character was a combination of the two.

His most recent dramas are ‘The King of Desert’ and ‘Shadow Detective’. They’re both on my to watch list so make sure to stay tuned for those reviews.
