For this week’s Actor Spotlight we are sharing the career of an actor that steadily carved his own path in the industry over the years, and finally got the recognition he deserved just a few years ago. Let’s talk about Ahn Bo-hyun.
Debuting as a model in 2007, Ahn Bo-hyun started his acting career in 2014 with small supporting roles in the dramas ‘Golden Cross’, ‘Two Mothers’, ‘My Secret Hotel’, and the 2015 production ‘The Dearest Lady’.
In 2016, he got his first main role in the movie ‘Hiya’ where he acted along with well-known idol and dancer Hoya. During this same year he also played a supporting role in the hit drama ‘Descendants of the Sun’. For this role he started to gain the public attention for his looks and mysterious role.
Later in 2016 he played one of the main roles in ‘After The Show Ends’, and this one was followed by his support role in the web-drama ‘My Runway’.
Rise to the Spotlight
In 2017 he appeared in several dramas as a guest role and starred in the production ‘Wednesday 3:30 PM’, and had a supporting role in the web drama ‘My Only Love Song’.
The following two years he started to get a lot more attention for his roles in the dramas ‘Hide and Seek’, ‘Dokgo Rewind’, and ‘Her Private Life’, and the movie ‘Memories of a Dead End’. However, it wasn’t until 2020 when he rose to stardom with his role in the drama ‘Itaewon Class’.
Since his debut Bo-hyun has ventured into different types of dramas and genres, playing the mysterious guy, the sweet friend or even a sociopath. His acting range is fairly broad and he just got better and better over time.
In 2021 he was casted as the main role for the popular drama ‘Yumi’s Cells’, the Netflix production ‘My Name’ and the drama ‘Military Prosecutor Doberman’.
His latest works was his support role in the second season of ‘Yumi’s Cells’. He is set to play the main role for the upcoming drama ‘See You in My 19th Life’ and the movie ‘2 O’Clock Date’.
