[Time Capsule] Fin.K.L – To My Boyfriend

We’re back with a new [Time Capsule], this time we’re writing about the iconic girls from Fin.K.L and their hit single ‘To My Boyfriend’.

The girl group Fin.K.L under DSP Media debuted in 1998 and had a hugely successful run till their hiatus in 2005. The group consists of Lee Hyori, Ock Joo-hyun, Lee Jin, and Sung Yu-ri. The name stands for ‘Fin Killing Liberty’ and is meant to represent the end of oppression. The girls were some of the main competitors to S.E.S. and H.O.T.

In 2005 they all decided to focus on their solo careers, some going into acting while others released solo music. They all left DSP Media and signed on with different companies but never oficially announced their disbandment. In 2019, they had their first comeback in 15 years with ‘Like The Song Remains’.

Though for this week’s feature I wanted to share their hitsingle ‘To My Boyfriend’. I thought it’d be nice to see the girls now and when they were just starting out. They look absolutely adorable. I don’t know what is more shocking, the bright contrast or the pink comic sans lettering at 0:50.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this blast from the past with Fin.K.L and their single ‘To My Boyfriend’. You can find the single on Spotify here.
