K-Beauty trends to look forward to in 2021

It’s the end of 2020 and it has been a year of great discoveries and amazing trends in the K-beauty world, we have spotted some products we are excited about and we look forward to check out in 2021.

Here are the top 5 K-beauty products and trends to look forward to in 2021.

Number 1:  Cica

Social media has given Cica, also known as centella asiatica its time to shine. More and more people are jumping into the K-beauty wagon and testing this phenomenal ingredient that is well-known and loved in K-beauty.

Its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, along with its hydrating and soothing ones have made the products containing this ingredient a holy grail. Here are a few of our favorite ones.

Number 2: Mugwort

Mugwort is becoming more and more common in the ingredient list in Korean skincare and I am here for it. With anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, mugwort is fantastic for irritated skin, and it is proven to be of great help for acne prone skin.

What I like the most about mugwort based products is the plump, hydrated and healthy look that it gives to the skin (especially the sheet masks). Here are a couple of products you should keep an eye on.

Number 3: Cleansing Oils

Oils in Korean skincare are not new, but in 2020 the popularity definitely increased and more brands are joining in by creating cleansing oils. I am a big fan of oil based make-up removers, I particularly feel that they are fantastic for oily skin.

Here is a list of a few of my favourite ones, keep in mind that there are many types of cleansing oils and it is important to find the right one for your skin type.

Number 4: Probiotic Extracts

The inclusion of probiotic extracts is having a moment in Korean skincare, they are already known to do wonders for our organism when consumed but how does it work in skincare?

Researchers explain that probiotics in skincare help to regulate the pH levels of the skin, helping it to stay moisturised and giving that plumpy healthy look. Further studies also indicate that probiotics are of great use for acne, eczema, rosacea and dry skin.

I haven’t tested products with probiotics yet, but here is a small list of some of the most popular ones online.

Number 5: Plant-based skincare

Plant-based skin care is here to stay, more and more K-beauty brands are joining this trend and launching cruelty free or vegan friendly products. We have already mentioned in previous articles a few of our favourite ones, but below you can check out products by Korean brands that are 100% vegan and cruelty free.
