[Review] ZICO – Grown Ass Kid

Zico is back with his new mini-album ‘Grown Ass Kid’. Let’s dive right in to see what kind of music he released today.

Grown Ass Kid

We start off with the title track ‘Freak’. This is a fantastic track. It’s quirky, has a nice flow and the instrumentals in the chorus are awesome. As always Zico’s rapping is fab. This kind of reminds me a bit of his Block B days.

After that comes the pre-released ‘Seoul Drift‘ which you can read about here.

Next up is ‘Trash Talk’ featuring CHANGMO. This one is a lot more rap focused. The chanting is quite fun and begs for a live performance where the audience goes wild. I really enjoyed the flow of the rapping, both Zico and Changmo really know how to use tempo.

‘OMZ Freestyle’ is up next. This is pure rap with a very minimalistic instrumental. You can read the translation here.

The closing track is ‘Nocturnal Animals’ featuring Zior Park. I’m a big fan of Zior Park’s unique vocal tone. The fact that they both rap together on this track is insane, and I’m here for it. I like the twangy instrumental beat. This is super cool and everything feels very languid about it. I dig it.

Overall ‘Grown Ass Kid’ by ZICO is a great mini-album and we’re happy he’s back. Go ahead and listen to the mini on Spotify here.
