[Review] Yu Seungwoo – Five Love Stories

Yu Seungwoo is back with his new mini-album ‘Five Love Stories’. I am excited to hear his amazing vocals again, so let’s dive in!

Five Love Stories

The first single is the title track ‘I wanna fall in love’. This folk ballad is absolutely amazing. The vocal plays are stunning and the bridge where everything finds its peak is chill-inducing.

The little outro with the vocal layering is smooth!

We follow that up with ‘I will remember’. This ballad starts off with an incredibly intimate feel. It’s almost as if you walked into a room where he happens to be playing the piano. Musically this track is a lot more simple than the title track. It’s mostly just vocals and piano and it makes it feel so earnest and true.

‘Falling’ is next. I am in love with how they added the clarinet in this track. This is such a well balanced ballad. It feels a bit jazzy and more lighthearted than the previous tracks. I was very surprised by the build-up, but it’s amazing! This was pre-released in 2020.

After that we get ‘The Distance Between You and Me’. This single features An Shinae from the group The Barberettes and was pre-released in January. It’s a very cute single with soft instrumentation. The bridge is insane with the violin solo and An Shinae’s soft vocal runs.

The last track on the mini-album is ‘I Wonder’. It’s a jazzy ballad and Yu Seungwoo’s vocals are used to perfection. He uses some sweet falsetto. It’s a lovely listen.

Overall, ‘Five Love Stories’ by Yu Seungwoo is an excellent listen and as soon as I can find it on Spotify, I will be adding it to my favorites. What a sweet release.
