[Review] WONHO – Love Synonym #1: Right for Me

Our lovable WONHO just released his first solo mini-album ‘Love Synonym #1: Right for Me’. We’ve been waiting for this one.

Love Synonym #1: Right for Me

We open the mini-album with the title track ‘OPEN MIND’. This is such a lovely track. WONHO co-wrote this track together with Suran. That’s a dream team right there. We get ‘OPEN MIND’ in both the English and Korean version.

Next up is the single ‘I Just’. This is a beautiful, spacious single with WONHO’s stunning vocals in the spotlight. The bass in this is great and adds depth.

‘Lost in Paradise’ follows that with a more up-beat feeling. I’m getting island vibes with this one. Who wouldn’t want to have a party on an island with WONHO?

After that we get the Korean version of ‘Losing You’. There is also an English version of this track on the mini-album. This was a pre-release, you can find our feature on that here.

The following track ‘Interlude : Runway’ is so DOPE. The electronic, heavy bass is fantastic and just imagine, walking the catwalk on that tune.

The interlude makes more sense if we see it in context with the next track ‘WITH YOU’. This in combination with the interlude is really good. This track is spicy y’all. We get heavy electronic sounds with WONHO’s seductive voice. For a second I thought I heard I.M’s voice but he doesn’t seem to be credited so I can’t confirm that.

Overall

The mini-album ‘Love Synonym #1: Right for Me’ by WONHO is so freaking fantastic. We get a full display of his powerful voice. I’m also really happy that he gets to flex his songwriting muscles, because he has credits on six out of the 8 songs on the mini-album. We stan.

You can find the mini-album on Spotify here.
