[Review] Super Junior – The Renaissance

K-pop legends Super Junior just dropped their 10th album. This time they are coming with ten tracks including the remake of the song ‘Raining Spell for Love‘ originally released in 2014 as part of their album ‘MAMACITA‘, and their pre-released song ‘The Melody‘.

Let’s dig in!

The Renaissance

The intro ‘SUPER‘ welcomes listeners with a track that goes hard as expected from SUJU. I can see this song becoming a fan-chant, is catchy and powerful.

The title track ‘House Party‘ follows, with a funky vibe that had me grooving to it. I absolutely loved the drastic change of tempo and melody in the middle of this track. The EDM track mixed with the electric guitar was awesome and Eunhyuk’s ‘skirt skirt’ cracked me up!

This song without a doubt shows SUJU’s at its best, it’s fun, entertaining and has fantastic vocals, a BOP! The music video follows the same vibe of this track, with great visuals that just get better with the choreo, outfits and sets. Watch it below.

With a slower tempo ‘Burn The Floor‘ begins, the orchestration in this song is nothing but magnificent. The members go off with their vocals with incredible harmonizations, the outro of this song is super unexpected but I totally dig the drastic change.

Paradox‘ begins with a more electronic driven track and beat drops that are extremely cool. This is a perfect song to jam to, dance and just have the time of your life.

The pop-ballad ‘Closer‘ changes the mood, but will have listeners grooving to it with its mellow harmonies and awesome composition. The pre-released track ‘The Melody‘ and the remake of ‘Raining Spell for Love‘ come next in this release.

Watch below the live performance ‘Raining Spell for Love‘. Power Vocals!

With a very interesting layering ‘Mystery‘ plays, the constant whistling in this song and its bass make an interesting combo, but I totally dig what they went for in this track. It is trendy, alternative and refreshing.

Acoustic guitar and a stunning piano melody take over in the ballad ‘More Days with You‘, as expected this song goes straight to the heart with its beautiful singing.

Tell Me Baby‘ puts an end to this album with a happy note, this song is bubbly and charming with a jazzy melody that will put a smile on your face. Absolutely adorable and cute.

Ending Thoughts

After 15 years in the music industry, Super Junior continues to surprise fans with music that is trendy but also keeps the core of SUJU as a group. I love seeing the way they have reinvented themselves over the years but always kept their essence and vibe that makes them so legendary.

Make sure to listen to this release here, and if you are new to Super Junior check their Spotify profile for a musical journey.
