[Review] Red Velvet – The ReVe Festival – Feel My Rhythm

Red Velvet is back to wow us with ‘The ReVe Festival – Feel My Rhythm’. Let’s dive right in because, after the teaser my expectations skyrocketed.

The ReVe Festival – Feel My Rhythm

We start off with the title track ‘Feel My Rhythm‘. This track is next level! The song mixes Bach’s ‘Air on G String’ with pop and a heavy dose of EDM. It’s a very intriguing combination and I’m digging it. You can listen to the Bach original here.

The song itself is super dope, and I am in love with Wendy’s bridge. We also have to mention the music video which is SO creative and beautifully done. Also the girls look amazing!!

The amount of art references is super cool. We see glimpses of Monet, Millet, Bosch and many more. A handy frame by frame comparison you can find here. It’s not the first time K-pop videos reference classical art, if you’d like to discover more, you can click here. I feel like there are also some ‘Swan Lake’ references with the white and dark outfits.

After that we get ‘Rainbow Halo’. This is groove meets R&B and a dash of synths. It’s such a cool combination. The instrumentals are intense and I really recommend listening to this with your good headphones on full blast to try to listen to all the layers. The sax moment, exquisite.

‘Beg For Me’ brings some sexiness to the EP. You really need to read the translated lyrics for this. This song is R&B goodness with so much power.

Next up

Next up is ‘Bamboleo’. The queens are going retro synth pop for this one. It’s a whole new vibe and I’m here for it. The high ‘Bamboleo’ is everything and had me straight up vibing. What a moment!

‘Good, Bad, Ugly’ is a groovy mid-tempo R&B track. This track is giving us some amazing vocals and that groovy piano line is SO good. I love this so much.

We close of with ‘In My Dreams’. The opening was unexpected but I would have loved it if it had been a bit longer. When the beat comes in though, it creates a cool layering. Imagine blasting this in your car with the bass just blaring out. The taste! What a lovely track with a lot of ddrama, fantastic vocals and a nice progression.

Overall ‘The ReVe Festival – Feel My Rhythm’ by Red Velvet is a great addition to their discography. I loved the tracks and the flow of the EP. I’m glad they’re back. The harmonisations were chill inducing.
