[Review] Highlight – DAYDREAM

Highlight is back with their very first full album. These guys haven been working in the music industry for thirteen years and what a better way to celebrate such a story with their new release ‘DAYDREAM‘.

The album description describes this release as more mature and special, so let’s dive in and check what they have prepared for fans.

DAYDREAM

Opening this album we get the title track ‘DAYDREAM‘ by HIGHLIGHT, with a very modern pop-sound and charming singing. This song is a smooth listen and I really liked its freshness.

For the music video, dreamy visuals take over with very artistic and eye catching shots. I really liked the camera work and how some of the sets were used to create stunning visual effects. Check it below.

Jazzy R&B vibes take over in ‘Night Fog‘. I am absolutely in love with the arrangement of this track, the musical build up is amazingly done, and the hook has the second gen idol sound I really liked. The addition of instrumentals made this song even more memorable and it is just a dope listen.

A very cool band orchestration meets EDM beats in ‘Don’t Leave‘. This song has a feel-good spirit I really enjoyed. It is fun, up-beat and super enjoyable.

PLAY‘ comes up next with bass and rhythmic drums. This track is one of those b-sides that could have been the title track. For this particular case this track takes me to the summer time with its tunes and flow.

With and electric guitar and lo-fi feel ‘Our Eyes‘ plays next. The vocals and the little instrumental solos in this tracks are awesome, the harmonisations as expected are incredible and the high notes legendary.

A mix if genres

We are half-way through this album and ‘Whatever‘ continues on with the pop style and heavenly vocals. The rap section in the song was cool and its mixing and change of tempo are very dope.

R&B and bass are present in the next track ‘Seven Wonders‘. I really dig the concept and arrangement of this track, it is super fun and chill.

Classic‘ starts off with a very minimalistic concept and I loved how the incorporation of beats was done gradually. This song definitely took me by surprise with the unique style, but overall it is a very bright and happy listen.

Charming vocals and instrumentation follow along in ‘Lovely Day‘. This single is a super sweet listen, I really enjoyed the soft vocals, the rhythmic rapping and the incredible falsettos and harmonies.

Last on this release is ‘All My Life‘, closing this release on an emotional note with aa lovely melody and acoustic guitar. The inclusion of violins and the emotional lyrics delivery are something else in this song. This is the perfect closing track.

Highlight came back with the album ‘DAYDREAM’ that gathers a mix of genres and are unique in their own way. This album is a solid listen, make sure to listen to this release here.
