[Review] ONF – SPIN OFF

The boys from ONF are back with their latest mini-album ‘SPIN OFF’. Let’s dive in because I have been waiting for this.

SPIN OFF

The opening track is their title ‘Sukhumvit Swimming’. It’s all about being brave enough to jump into an unknown to connect us, or at least that’s what the album description says. I still literally have no idea what ‘sukhumvit’ means. However, I don’t need to know to enjoy this bop of a song. The reggaeton mixed with the trap beat and the members’ vocals is so freaking good. I’m also obsessed with the brass they added.

‘Belle Epoque’ is up next. This feels a lot less complex than the title track, but it makes their vocals stand out so nicely. It feels like a soft summer song, but what a mood shift from their previous song. Also Wyatt is showing us his diversity in rap skills, because he goes from soft to spitting fire. We stan.

After that we get ‘Gepetto’, and yes, they are talking about Pinocchio’s Gepetto. I was shook by the first couple of seconds, and I feel like they are playing with expectations. I assumed it was going one way, but it kept diverting. Honestly, I’m totally here for it. The chorus has some interesting vocal tones and I love it. To be honest, this feels like a case the YouTube reactors on Reacttothek would enjoy.

The fourth track is ‘Good Good’. This one makes me so happy! Okay, dopamine, come through. What a cheerful addition to the mini. I can just imagine the video with them frolicking around on the beach.

‘Cactus’ follows by taking us to Sad Hours. The mixing in the chorus gives me all the feels. What an absolutely beautiful song with amazing harmonies. I desperately need a live version of this, because I want to watch that when I need a good cry.

The next song was pre-released as a gift to Fuse. ‘Message’ has beautiful harmonies, and going forward with autumn coming soon, this will be a song to listen to with sweaters and fuzzy socks.

The last track is the SPIN OFF version of their ‘Road To Kingdom’ song ‘New World’.

Overall

There’s something magic in the collaborations between MonoTree and ONF. Wyatt and MK participated a lot in the writing and composing, hello talent. ‘SPIN OFF’ by ONF doesn’t have one weak song. So go ahead and stream y’all.
