JAY B from GOT7 fame released his first solo full-length album ‘Archive 1 : Road Runner’. We’re super stoked. Jay B has writing and composing credits on every track under his penname Def. let’s take a closer look at this comeback!
Archive 1 : Road Runner
The album starts with the track ‘Baby’. This is a super chill R&B pop track with fun synths and a super nice layering. Jay B’s vocals are lovely as always.
‘If you’ has a really cool bassline that feels smooth as hell. I can’t wait to see the choreography for this because I can imagine it will be incredibly suave.
Next up is ‘Make Me Right’ and this is one to add to your Sexytimes playlist. The synths and tempo remind me of the early 2000s. I wish there was a bit more progression to the song as it stays in the same space for about the entire song.
‘Chosen’ has a fun two step beat to it and playful lyrics.
After that comes ‘Take it easy’ which was co-written by JUNNY. This is a fun pop R&B blend with a fun beat and a catchy hook. It’s easy to sing along to and a vibey bridge.
Next up is ‘Crash’ which is the title track. We get a groovy beat and we lean a bit more into the pop side. The chorus is a vibe and I like how they created a very wide space with the synths.
‘Preview’ has early 2000s pop instrumentals that made me immediately vibe with it. The vocal layering is fun and creates a fun dynamic with the instrumentals. The outro is fun and 10 points for the adlib. I enjoyed this one!
We get right into ‘Temperature’. This is R&B with a nice synth layering and a nice melody. ‘Right Back’ slows things down and with minimal instrumentation creates a sultry vision. ‘Inside’ throws in an electric guitar which is honestly fantastic.
The closing track is ‘Cloud Nine’ which continues with the electric guitar which is fab. The drums are snazzy in the instrumentals and the bass creates a really cool ambience.
