[Review] WayV – FREQUENCY

WayV is back with their 6th mini-album, ‘FREQUENCY’! Known for seamlessly blending Korean, Chinese, and English, these multilingual kings deliver a bold and genre-defying release. Let’s dive into the highlights.

FREQUENCY

The album opens with the Korean version of the title track, ‘FREQUENCY’, a hip-hop-inspired song with impeccable drum and bass beats. Its smooth transitions between rap and vocal sections, paired with catchy vibes, make it a standout. The music video enhances the track with dynamic dance sequences, special effects, and the stunning visuals of WayV.

Next is the pre-released single, ‘HIGH FIVE’, a 90s-inspired groove with fun and bright energy. The song’s funky instrumentals and infectious rhythm had us vibing from the start.

‘TWIST’ follows, opening with clapping sounds and turning into a cool, multilingual bop. With a stellar mix of Korean, Chinese, and English, this track peaks the vibes and stands as a solid b-side.

‘Filthy Rich’ brings an upbeat R&B tempo with a vintage touch. The rap verses are sharp, and the vocals shine with harmonies and powerful ad-libs, creating an unforgettable track.

‘Call Me’ delivers cozy, wintery vibes with its R&B tempo and soft piano accompaniment. The gentle vocals and lighthearted rap make it the most endearing track on the album—a definite favorite.

The album closes with the Chinese version of ‘FREQUENCY’, wrapping up this multilayered release.

WayV delivers a phenomenal mini-album with ‘FREQUENCY’, a non-skip collection that perfectly showcases their versatility and style. Don’t miss it!
